Transformers Cyberverse Star Hammerwheeljack Review

I’m going to start this review by saying I know nothing about Transformers and neither does my 5 year old son, who has never shown more than a passing interest in them. We’ve had a few little ones in the past however they broke after a little bit of use and it was pretty clear to see that the quality was not the same as the toys I remember in the 1980′s. The fact that they broke so quickly was reason enough for me not to buy any more so I was interested to see how this toy would compare to my past experiences.

The action set contains 1 x legion class action figure (I have no idea what legion class is) and play set with light and sound features, weapons and accessories. It requires 2 x AA batteries and is aimed at children aged 5+.

We found that this being a big Transformer, it was less fiddly and easier to transform than the ones we’ve had in the past – my son was able to transform it pretty well on his own but it wasn’t really any more robust or sturdier. Don’t get me wrong, my son enjoyed playing with it but my concern would be how much abuse it could take before it broke as 5 year olds can play pretty rough!  Also I think to get the most out of toys like this you need more of them, I’m not sure it works so well as a standalone toy as you’ve not got another to battle against or whatever it is they do. I think if you’ve got a Transformers fan or collecter then they’re going to love playing with this alongside their other toys however with it being the only one we have, my son lost interest pretty quick.

I probably wouldn’t buy anymore Transformers as I’m not sure that for the price, the quality is there, plus my son isn’t really a fan of Transformers. However if he were a fan and begged for Transformers toys, then I’d probably give in if I thought he’d get lots of use out of it.

The Transformers Prime Cyberverse Starjack/Wheelhammer Vehicle is available from ToysRUs priced at £22.99.
